Dutch Oven with the taste ready to become a sauce |
To be honest I was going to get the normal enameled one but when I reached the store Dutchie was calling out to me and telling me. Me, me, buy me. So I did, they are not cheap I think I paid 140 pounds but since I have used it to make soup, fry, casseroles, tagins and my chicken recipe I have made it back. I think the main reason I bought it was to avoid using tin foil when roasting chicken I figured it was my way to avoid polluting the world with tin foil. I guess it will last forever, I can probably use it as an inheritence.
Here son, I am leaving you this pot. That way no matter what happens you can always make a living. ;)
It does take some maintenance, every once in a while you need to season it.
Seasoning is the process of coating it black again so that the food does not stick.
For example if you boil water in Dutchie it will lose the black color and turn gray because the
coat at the bottom is gone. Seasoning will need to be done, its basically you coat it with oil and put it in the oven for 3 hours on 300F. Then when you take it out it will have the lovely coat you see at the bottom.
If you buy only one tool, get this one.
